A stirring story
about finding love when you least expected it.
New Cover Design. I think it fits the tone of the book better. This version has been edited, one more time so hopefully there are fewer annoying mistakes, and some of the content has been revised. Still, it is basically the same book. If you have already downloaded it, just set your Kindle to view the latest version.
From time to time I will add moments from their life (before and after Chloe's five days in Miller) that didn't make into the final draft of
Kiss Me Stupid.
Don't forget to scroll down the page for more special features. Previous posts include two more excerpts from Chloe and Dean's story that are not included in the novel:

Want to know a little more about Chloe Carter? Here's a conversation between Chloe and Dean that didn't make into the book.
Goosebumps on a Warm Texas Evening
July 20, 2014
"Tell me three things that give you goosebumps." Dean stopped walking and turned to the lady at his side.
Chloe considered his question a moment before replying. "One, a man holding a baby in his arms and singing a lullaby." She held up one finger. "Two," she said as she added another finger. "A really good piece of cheesecake covered with hot fudge, toasted pecans, and whipped cream."
"What, no cherry on top?" Dean asked widening his eyes in mock horror.
"No, the cherry would be overkill," Chloe informed him without cracking a smile.
"No doubt," he grinned at her.
Chloe tapped him on the arm and said, "Quit grinning at me."
"Gets to you, huh?"
"I am a woman, so yeah. It gives me goosebumps," she said, holding up a third finger.
Dean turned his head to the side slowly, keeping his eyes on Chloe as he absorbed her words. "So is three the top of the list, or the bottom?"
"That would depend."
"Okay, I'll bite." Dean rubbed his hand over his bearded jaw. "What does it depend on?"
Chloe closed the distance between them, covering his hand with hers, she gazed into his eyes. "Just how long it has been since I've been kissed stupid."
Dean lowered his lips to hers. "In that case," he whispered against her mouth, "I don't really care where the grin falls on the list." Chloe slid her arms around his neck and kissed him back. When he pulled back, she grinned at him joy shining from her bluer than a Texas sky eyes. "Now, that," he said as he stared down at her, "gives me goosebumps."
"The kiss or the grin?"
"Both," he said as he lowered his head and kissed her again.
Chloe met him half way as eager as he was for the next kiss. At this rate, she thought, I'll be terminally stupid before I've known him a week.

Okay, This the final, final, final book cover for Kiss Me Stupid. I will update the Amazon covers soon, so if you click on the link you will still see the old cover (picture below). It's the same book, I am just trying to create a cover that I can use for all thirteen books in the series.
The original cover |
I know that you will enjoy reading Chloe and Dean's story as much as I enjoyed writing it. Their story is about honor and commitment as much as it is about falling in love.

Man of the Hour Interview
July 10, 2014
This interview with Cavilla Gomez, the host of Tyler ENewz, was taped seven days before Chloe Carter, the blond bombshell, walked into his restaurant.
Gomez: Hello and welcome to Tyler's ENewz tonight. We are here at The Double D Roadhouse in Miller, Texas to chat with your Man of the Hour, Dean Dillard. According to you, he is faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Just kidding. Our guest tonight might be the closest thing to Superman that East Texas is likely to see, but he isn't from the planet Krypton. He was born and raised right here in Cherokee County. That's not to say that he is without super powers. Ask anyone that has been to the Double D Roadhouse, and they will tell you that he is using his super powers to turn out incredible diner fare that is guaranteed to leave you helpless to resist it. (The camera moves from the host to Dillard) How are you tonight, Dean?
Dillard: (He grimaces as she turns to him.) A little embarrassed by that lead in, but otherwise, I am fine.
Gomez: Yes, I'd have to agree with you, and I'm sure the ladies in our viewing audience would join with me in saying, you are most certainly FINE. (She looks at the camera and chuckles.) What do you say ladies? Let us know what you think at hashtag F I N E. (Turning back to Dean, she gives him a puesdo-innocent look.) How does it feel to be voted the ENewz Man of the Hour?
Dillard: I can't say that I've done anything to deserve it, but I'm honored.
Gomez: (She looks at the camera, her expression one of playful disbelief.) All that and modest, too. (Turning back to Dillard, she poses the question that he marked off the list of questions allowable for the interview.) Are you single?
Dillard: (He narrows his eyes and cocks his head to the side.) Yes. I am.
Gomez: (She looks at the camera and winks.) Is there a woman waiting in the wings hoping to change your mind?
Dillard: (He favors the host with a tight smile.) Not to my knowledge.
Gomez: (She feigns surprise.) How can that be? Our viewers voted you Man of the Hour. Nearly every vote that came in by text, email, and Tweet mentioned how hot you are? (Lowering her voice to a stage whisper, she moves closer.) You can tell me, I know how to keep a secret. (She winks at him.)
Dillard: (He crosses his arms over his chest and stares at her.) No comment.
Gomez: You don't think I'm going to let you get by with that, now do you?
Dillard: (He glares at her.) No comment.
Gomez: You are going to make me ask you, aren't you? (She turns to the camera and appeals to the audience.) You want to know, don't you, ladies? (Eyes wide, a grin tugging at her cherry red lips, she turns back to Dean.) For all the ladies out there, can you describe your ideal woman? The lady you see yourself marrying.
Dillard: (He clears his throat and coughs into his fist.) First and foremost, my future wife needs to share my faith, so she will be a Christian. Also, she needs to have a sense of humor if she is going to put up with me. After that, I am open to whomever the Lord sends my way.
Gomez: (She smirks at him.) Blonde or brunette?
Dillard: I have to admit that I am partial to brunettes.
Gomez: Be still my heart, I think I may be first in line. You did notice that I am a brunette, right?
Dillard: (He laughs, but it's a trifle forced.) Now that you mention it, yeah.
Gomez: Ouch! Do I take that to mean if I leave you my number, you won't give me a call?
Dillard: No comment.
Gomez: (She issues a deep sigh and fans herself with the fingers of one cherry red tipped hand.) I like a man who know when to keep his opinions to himself. (Through her ear piece she hears the music signaling the countdown to a commercial break, so she looks at the camera again.) You heard it here first, Tyler. Our man of the hour, Dean Dillard, the owner of The Double D Roadhouse in Miller, Texas is tall, dark, handsome and single.
The camera zooms in on Dean's face as he stands in the middle of his popular restaurant, iron jawed, eyes snapping with irritation. Gomez winks at her camera man and pulls a business card out of the pocket of her cherry red blazer. Crossing to Dean, she slips the card beneath his folded arms, wedging it against his chest before turning on her six inch, spiked, cherry red heels and walking out the door.
"Going to give her a call, Boss?" Doyle Allen, the night manager of the Double D, asks, coming to stand next to Dean. The two men watch as the crew packs up and leaves.
"Not a chance," Dean says as the door closes behind the last of the members of the ENewz team. "She's not my type."
"Yeah," Doyle Allen agrees. "She's something of a barracuda."
Dean shakes his head and grins, "Now that's just insulting to barracudas." Slapping his friend on the back, he picks up the car that has fallen to the floor, tears it in half, and drops it in the trashcan. "Let's get back to work."
Kiss Me Stupid
Book 2: @the Double D Series
There should be a warning billboard planted at the Miller’s city
limit sign on Highway 135. It should
read: Beware. This is not Vegas. What
happens in Miller, Texas does not stay in Miller, Texas. It will end up on the intrepid blogger’s ALittleBitOfMiller
Blog for the whole world to read. These
words should be written in bold, black, ten foot tall letters--maybe even italicized
and highlighted in dayglow yellow—and then the whole shebang should be trimmed
in red neon. At least that way Chloe
Carter would have had some warning. But,
there is no such billboard, so Chloe remains blissfully unaware that her life
will never be the same, until she walks into the Double D Roadhouse. One
seemingly inconsequential moment can change everything. Chloe Carter did
nothing more than walk into a restaurant on a hot July day for a meeting with a
man who was threatening her family. Dean
Dillard with his oh so sexy Clark Kent swagger was not the man she had come to
Miller to meet. Dean, the owner of the Double
D, tries to dismiss the blond lady seated on his deck. Although she is a DDG (drop dead gorgeous) blonde,
the lady isn’t his type. Dean is just looking to satisfy his curiosity when he
makes the decision to talk to her.
Neither
Chloe nor Dean are looking to make a love connection on that Thursday afternoon. Love has other ideas. However, finding their way to their HEA (happily-ever-after)
is not as simple as admitting they are attracted to each other. Dean has made a vow to give up dating for a
year. His promise to God is part of his
desire to get his life back on track. He
hadn’t counted on meeting Chloe six months into his moratorium on dating. Before he can stop himself, he tells her he
wants to kiss her stupid. Chloe knows
she should run, but what sane woman would run from a man who tells her he wants
to kiss her stupid when she has never been kissed stupid before?
There is no easy answer to that question, nor is it the only
question Dean and Chloe must answer. Can
Dean live up to his commitment to the Lord? Will Chloe prove too strong a
temptation? Can Dean help her chase down
the blackmailer she came to Miller to confront?
Can Chloe resist Dean’s oh so tantalizing good-night kisses? It seems an impossible task, this whole
falling in love business, especially since the intrepid blogger and his infernal
blog has the whole town watching them every step of the way. It will take patience and prayer for them to
have a chance, even then there are no guarantees. Remember, sometimes God says no. After five
short days in Miller, what will Chloe ask of Dean? Kiss me stupid, or kiss me goodbye?

"And you are really dangerous to me because you make me wonder what it would be like be kissed stupid, and I have no business thinking about such things where you are concerned.” She pointed her fork at him and added tartly, “That would be reckless.”
The Cover as seen on Create Space and Amazon.
On the other hand, Dean has made a vow to give up random hook-ups forever and dating for a year. This shouldn't be a problem for him because he likes short, curvy brunettes. He isn't looking for a woman when he spies Chloe Carter. She is a tall, slender, blonde and is not his type at all, but that does not seem to matter once she steps into his restaurant, The Double D Roadhouse.
Both Dean and Chloe have good intentions, but five days in Miller, Texas, changes both their lives forever. Can Chloe complete her mission? Will Dean be able to stay true to his commitment to avoid meaningless hook-ups? It would seem that prayer, and laughter, are all Chloe and Dean have to fight off the effects of madness that overcomes them whenever they are together.
Kiss Me Stupid, One More Time is a wholesome, but Spicy romantic story of finding love at the wrong time, in the wrong place, and with the wrong woman...or is it really the right place, the right time, and the right woman? That's what Dean is about to discover. Since Dean has sworn off meaningless sex and hook-up while he gets his heart right with God, there is no sex, gratuitous or otherwise.
